Selected Noel and D'Allaires Records from Quebec   1800-1850

These records are from various churches in Quebec, as well as the archives in Quebec City and from sources such as Tanguay. They were copied from personal visits in 1972 by  Stella Newell and myself.  (I apologize, as my French is not terribly good, so if I spell something incorrectly, or translate incorrectly, please forgive.)  We were primarily looking for Noel records dating from 1800-1850.  There seems to be some duplication, hopefully not too much contradiction, since they are from various sources, I did not eliminate duplication when transcribing.     Connie Williams

Cemetery Information from Isle d’Orleans:

Ste. Jean  This is an old but very beautiful cemetery. Some men were digging a grave there. They said it is at least 200 years old. They also said the custom of putting the first casket down very deep so that others could be placed over it, made it impossible for genealogy searchers to get information there as only the newer stones remained.

Ste Petronille (in Beaulieu)   This section of the island appears to be about the oldest and most thickly settled and is certainly a lovely area, well supplied with hotels, restaurants, etc. Be sure to visit here if you ever go to that island. There is a Bellevue Hotel and a Chateau Belair. The church is dated 1871. The cemetery adjoins a large golf course. Famille Barthelemi Noel (3rd row down) is a lot terribly overgrown with weeds. Famille Dupil (against the fence) appears to be very old stones.

Ste Pierre  This cemetery is in ruins. No Noels found.

Ste Famille  We were not allowed in.

St Charles  Church and cemetery on route #25A. Date on Church 1752-1828 Cemetery was being renovated and graded. We started to search for our names, but were told to go to the office as the priest had all of the records.
